This week we spoke with Sam Jurist, co-founder of MyGradPad.com — and learned how to use appointment booking while apartment searching. If you’re looking for a new apartment, recent college-grad or not, MyGradPad has arrived to disrupt this process. And by disrupt, we mean rescue.
In working with renters directly, MyGradPad Brokers promise up to a 20% discount, which averages out to $500 to $1,000 of savings per signed lease.
Tell us a bit about yourself, your background, hobbies, goals…
Never been a big hobby guy. I enjoy my friends, sports and working. Love the beach and going out east during the summer.
How did you come to start-up MyGradPad? What is the ‘need’ or ‘void’ you are trying to fill through this service?
MyGradPad was founded out of the dissatisfaction my partner and I both had with the rental process out of college. There was no trusted source to turn to. Everyone went to Craigslist which is either a scam or a fake listing to bait you into calling a broker. We knew it could be done better, and it is our goal to make what is typically seen as a nightmare into a fun and enjoyable experience.
How did you find Setster? What attracted you to it?
I found Setster through Bonobos — a clothing retailer I’ve been shopping at lately. In fact we encourage all our brokers to shop there. I was attracted to Setster’s ease of use and simplicity of the service.
How does Setster help improve your business?
At MyGradPad, we are centered around the clients’ schedules, not our brokers’ schedules. Setster lets our clients find a time that works for them and then we do the rest. Additionally, we are using Setster for more than just scheduling — it’s also capturing important client info for us, to store in our database and dashboard.
Where do you hope your company finds itself a year from now?
Moving forward, we see ourselves continuing to use technology to streamline our business — thus reducing the cost to our clients.
